Cortney Hamilton, affectionately known as Mz. Cheesecake, is a self-taught baker with over a decade of experience in creating indulgent gourmet cheesecakes. Her journey began with a simple realization: every time someone tasted her cheesecakes, their faces lit up with joy, and they would often say, “I love your cheesecake!” Inspired by these heartfelt reactions, Cortney turned her passion into a business, founding For the Love of Cheesecake.

What started as a personal passion project has blossomed into a thriving, minority woman-owned gourmet specialty bakery. For the Love of Cheesecake stands out by offering fully customizable cheesecakes—crafted with love from the crust to the toppings. With the motto “If you can think it, we can cheesecake it,” Cortney gives her customers the freedom to create cheesecakes as unique as they are. All of the cheesecakes are made with high-quality, locally sourced ingredients, and cater to diverse dietary needs with gluten-free options available.

Cortney’s entrepreneurial journey has been fueled by her dedication to learning and growing. Despite having no formal business background, she sought out and completed prestigious programs such as the Goldman Sachs One Million Black Women Program, Cornell University’s Women’s Entrepreneurship Program, the Prudential Small Business Consulting Program, Capital Connect Alumni, and TechTown’s Retail Bootcamp. These experiences have helped her refine both her craft and business acumen, guiding For the Love of Cheesecake to the success it enjoys today.

Now a leading name in metro Detroit’s pop-up event scene, For the Love of Cheesecake has proudly participated in major events like Afro Nation, the NFL Draft, and Arts, Beats & Eats. You can also find her delicious creations at the official concession stand at Ford Field, serving fans during all Detroit Lions games and other marquee events.
